Hi folks.

Things are shaping up nicely for next Thursday’s NWRUG. So far we have three lighting talks confirmed:

  • Documenting Your Business Logic with Ruby Code by Rahoul Baruah
  • Fake it While You Make it by Rob Whittaker
  • 10 Cool Things You Might Not Know About Rails i18n by myself
But there’s room for more! If you’d like to share a very short talk, drop us a line: i...@nwrug.org.

Hi folks,

After a month long hiatus I’m pleased to announce we’ve secured a new venue and will be back to regular monthly meet-ups!

We’re kicking off the 2025 era with an evening of lightning talks. That means we’re looking to you, our dear members, to step forward and present something to the group.

Lightning talks are typically short (5 to 10 minutes) presentations. We’re looking for five or so short talks on something Ruby-related that would be of interest to the group.  Perhaps you’ve recently done something novel or new at work that’s worth sharing. Or there’s a new feature in Rails 8 you’ve been experimenting with. It doesn’t have to be something super slick or polished, and we (myself and Rob) are happy to help if you need any advice or guidance on your talk. If you’re interested in giving a lightning talk this month, drop us a line: i...@nwrug.org.

I’m volunteering myself to give a talk, which is currently titled: 10 cool things you might not know about i18n and Rails.

We’re also going to be at our new home in Ancoats: Colony, One Silk Street. Thanks to Fatsoma who are kindly covering the venue costs for us.

Full details and registration for the event over on our website: https://nwrug.org/events/february-2025-lightning-talks

Any questions let me know.

Cheers,

Tekin
