Hi Ian, I learned RoR after doing some Codecademy stuff (HTML/CSS/JS then
Python etc) but after a bit of Python I found it quite ugly as a language, Ruby
being far prettier (sorry if that's a dumb thing to say but beauty in a
language is important) - also I knew some debs from NHS Hack Day and the
Pythoneers were a bit dull, whereas the Rubyists were cooler ;-) (again, dumb,
but true). Rails seemed attractive in terms of building web apps quickly and
less painfully.

I'm currently involved in doing some BDD work in Cucumber for an open source
healthcare company, and in spare time I'm trying to get involved with a ruby
implementation of the openEHR specification for interoperable health records
(github skoba/openehr-ruby). I know a fair bit about openEHR but am not quite
good enough to be able to meaningfully help yet, although since the main guy
Skoba is Japanese I've been helping with his documentation. He merged my first
pull request today :-)

I've not been to Health 2.0 but it sounds good. Maybe I'll try to make it there
next time.

I have a lot of clinical experience and contacts/resources in the Digital
Health area and would love to meet & work with local Rubyists.

M
