I don't think I was descriptive enough about the existing website. I didn't mention that it currently doesn't have a database! The existing site is all html pages with lots of static information about things, very old skool! E.g. click here to find out more about beavers (its a tree restoration chairty before you raise eyebrows :) ).
The only dynamic content at the moment is the perl-driven shopping stuff, and theres not much of that. I think if I can get hold of a proper site map, I will be able to work out how best to rework the site into rails.
