Hi Tom, In my personal opinion, for network virtualization, I don't see much value in GRE in UDP. Each new encapsulation takes a lot of effort and time before it achieves ecosystem support (from software to hardware to offloads) to make it a viable option. We already have VXLAN/GPE so I am not sure what we gain with GRE in UDP over VXLAN/VXLAN-GPE. There may be scenarios outside of network virtualization, where this may be useful, but I am not familiar with those.
