I have a DataON 9473 CiB (which is a 70 SAS drive JBOD type solution with 2
nodes) that we purchased about a year ago with half populated, about 36 drives.
I created a single clustered storage pool and it’s being used by SCVMM/Hyper-V.

We just purchased the remaining drives that are exactly the same drives from
DataON that were originally purchased with the solution. When I added the
additional drives they are not showing up as a primordial pool. In fact, the
drives are saying they cannot pool because “Verification in progress”.

I have a ticket opened with both DataON as well as Microsoft Tier 3 premier
support and both are saying they can’t understand why the drives won’t show up.

The only difference is the new batch of ~30 drives are on a slightly newer
firmware compared to the exact same drives/models that originally came with the
CiB.

The cluster is 2016. I’m trying to add the new drives to the existing storage
pool, but the drives are not showing up as primordial to do anything with them
They do show up under disks in server manager and in disk manager.

Is there a specific step I need to perform to add these drives to the clustered
storage pool? I’ve done cluster validation and everything, can’t seem to figure
this out.

Thanks!
