Hi guys,

previously (PF_Ring 5.6.1 version), I was able to send traffic with pfsend at
9Gbps approximately (Intel 82599 based NICs). With latest PF_Ring versions
(commit 16b46e5be64c583e313c32bf1268b5aad0045bf2 from October 19th, actually)
I’m able to get 1.4Gbps at most. I’ve tested pfsend and zsend with identical
results. My test environment is pretty outdated with dual core intel
processors, but it’s the same test environment used to get that 9Gbps. The main
difference is that I had to update Ubuntu 12.04 to 14.04.

Could this undesired effect, be related with the fact that our processors don’t
have NUMA support? Hugepages can only be configured for the first node.
Any ideas on possible causes or workarounds are greatly appreciated.

Today I will run new tests on another test environment with newer processors,
trying to guess if NUMA support has something to do with this poor performance,
and let you know my results and conclusions.

Thanks in advance and best regards,
Manuel Polonio
