It's because of gcc-4.4. the ns core was designed to work with gcc-4.3, but this version of gcc is no longer supported in Ubuntu Unity distributions. You can apply the changes indicated here <http://blog.ceglug.org/venkat/?p=26>to get ride of the errors, but make sure of the output of ./validation after installation of ns.
