are you saying that you get to trouble when running the .tcl script?

it depends on the shell you are running this from.

you might need to include path to ns using either of the set, setenv, etc

i.e. setenv PATH $PATH:<location to ns>

or

PATH=$PATH:<location to ns>
export PATH

have I understood your question right?
