GitHub user dosubot[bot] added a comment to the discussion: Can I hide the
"Waiting on [data source]" message when refreshing dashboard?

<!-- Greeting -->
Hi @tomasvotava! I'm [Dosu](https://go.dosu.dev/dosubot) and I’m helping the
superset team.

<!-- Answer -->
There isn't a built-in way in Superset to keep outdated charts visible while
new data loads—the "Waiting on [data source]" overlay is hard-coded and shown
whenever a chart is refreshing, controlled by the chartStatus property in the
frontend code. There are no configuration options or dashboard settings to
disable or customize this overlay, so changing this behavior would require
modifying the frontend source code directly
[source](https://github.com/apache/superset/blob/cd3191bb79e13eb7098f3ab36b37d53da05b4fa5/superset-frontend/src/components/Chart/Chart.tsx).

Some users have had success hiding certain UI elements with custom CSS, but
there’s no direct evidence that this can selectively keep the old chart visible
while hiding only the overlay during refresh. If you want to experiment, you
could try targeting the overlay’s CSS class (e.g., `.chart-container .loading`
or similar) in your dashboard’s custom CSS settings, but this is a hack and may
have side effects or break with future updates
[discussion](https://github.com/apache/superset/discussions/31456).

For a robust solution, you’d need to customize the chart rendering logic in the
frontend to skip the overlay and keep the previous chart visible during
refresh. This isn’t supported out-of-the-box.
