A simple test from here: http://hg.nginx.org/nginx-tests/rev/4e6d21192037 passes and works as it should even with the basic version, also have a look at: http://serverfault.com/questions/409155/x-real-ip-header-empty-with-nginx-behind-a-load-balancer
