Why would you want a keyboard means of closing a window in
this situation?

You have just clicked on a link, using the mouse, and an
unwanted window opens. Why take your hand off the mouse to
carry out a complex muli-key manipulation when moving the
mouse slightly and making a single click does the job so
much more easily!!
