I have the very same problem than Paul for a guestbook on a site I
maintain as well. Spam is increasing now and I have to act.

My solution is a totally naive one and I'm interested to see whether my
reasoning works: I think spam bots fill all text fields present, after
all they want to get their message across, the more the better. I have
now added a text field to the form with the comment "Please leave
empty!" which I enforce.

I did this just today, so have no experience on how good it works. But
I'd be interested to hear what others think, perhaps by private email
because it's getting off-topic here, but as the topic was raised here
... please forgive me.
