However, the Ubuntu VM manager requires a 64 bit host OS, so I would have to reinstall Ubuntu anyway. This is not unduly difficult to do as I have very few personal data on the machine, so there wouldn't be a lot to do to be fully up and running as before. Maybe I can dual boot 32 bit and 64 bit Ubuntu, which would appear to be an alternative solution?
