Hi folks,

A couple people were asking, so I thought it made sense to send out a status
update for nestack code in diablo-4.

First off, we've had fantastic contributions across the board with respect
to code reviews in the past week, so thanks to everyone that has
contributed.

For Quantum, all but one merge prop have at least two reviews in progress:
https://code.launchpad.net/quantum/+activereviews . The only merge without
a review is stacked on top of a different review that is still in progress.

All code currently in merge prop should definitely be good for making it
into the final Diablo release, even if some of the reviews end up completing
after the Diablo-4 deadline 8/25 (Thursday). Mirroring the nova release
process, the next milestone is the "release branch point" (Diablo-rbp) on
9/10, aka the hard freeze after which only important bug fixes should go
into the diablo branch. Between Diablo-4 and and Diablo-rbp, we can wrap up
the reviews in process, fix bugs, add unit tests, documentation, etc., but
since we did a good job getting things proposed for D-4, hopefully we can
avoid additional major changes during this time. Between Diablo-rbp (9-10)
and the official Diablo release (9-22), only significant bugs should be
fixed, with the goal of minimizing churn so that people can use this period
to confirm that nothing they care about is broken in the Diablo release.

At any point, you can view the current set of milestones for Quantum at:
https://launchpad.net/quantum/+milestones

On the Nova front, we got the linuxnet-vifplugging and vif-uuid changes in.
This vif-uuid changes should be sufficient to let us use the dashboard
against stock nova, which is great.

The melange work is in merge prop (
https://code.launchpad.net/~raxnetworking/nova/melange/+merge/71917). The
quantum manager work was stacked on top of the melange branch, but based on
input from Thierry, we actually pulled the Quantum Manager code into a
branch that can diff cleanly against nova trunk and proposed it just to get
feedback as early as possible:
https://code.launchpad.net/~danwent/nova/qmanager-new/+merge/72526 . It
seems unlikely that this code will be merged in the D-4 timeframe, but we
may get an exception from the nova folks to get the code in prior to the
Diablo-rbp freeze, we'll see.

Please bring your questions/concerns about the release to the meeting today
or reply to this email.

Above all, let's continue the great effort on the Diablo-4 reviews :)

Dan
