For whatever it's worth, I have attached another simple test program to this mail. It opens AF_PACKET sockets without libpcap and (incorrectly) sets the protocol to 0. It works with my ethernet device. Looking at the code, it should also work with the patches you posted. Maybe it is useful for testing some (stupid) corner case. Hans
