-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello!
I'm using the entries in "/proc/sys/net/ipv4/conf/{all,<devname>}" to enable or disable certain additional features of the kernel's network code. In "include/linux/inetdevice.h" some entries are defined with logical ANDs and some are defined with logical ORs. My simple question is: Why isn't this done in a consistent way, which is transparent to the user? If there is a special need to use ANDs and ORs, why isn't this visible from the outside? I had to look into the kernel's source to see the difference! An idea I had, was using "../all" for ORs and (a new) "../global" for ANDs. If there is no reason, why not change it? And please do not argue with "the holy grail of compatibility" - as far as I saw, most users did not realize, that there is a difference and simply set all "../all" to 1 all the time!
