As I was the one who tried porting ipw2100 to devicescape, I can tell you that it isn't that easy. Both stacks require major surgery to be really generic. Devicescape doesn't support cards with firmware, e.g. ipw2100. ieee80211 on the other hand is far away from supporting multiple associations or access point and is putting way too much kernel interface burden on the driver writer. At this point, it's too early to decide what stack to enhance, we need to discuss our requirements first, then API between stack and device driver. Then we can choose one stack as primary development target.
