You need to reproduce the issue when the module has never been loaded
after boot. There is > 100x more code in the binary module than in the
r8169 driver.

False positive have already been reported in the past regarding the r8169
driver + binary stuff. I recognize that it is very confusing to see the
machine getting unstable after a simple change of network card but you
would not be the first one.

(it seems that you use the bi-AMD motherboard of hell: be sure to plug a
PS2 mouse)

The 64-bit PCI slot should not make a difference: when 64 bit issues arise
(if any), they happen at startup. I guess that your router does not use X
as well.
