August 11, 2020 Alan Sondheim: Second Life Projects We will
explore working and dealing with IRC, MUDs, MOOs, LPMUDs,
talkers, CuSeeMe, PowWow (created by Native Americans),
newsgroups and newsgroup experimentations, and so forth. There's
an enormous amount of work and experimental aesthetics all
through these - for example IRC pieces that literally disappear
on the screen as they're formed, given the nature of IRC - and
all of this history is completely overlooked. The MUDs and MOOs
(etc.) were incredibly dynamic in complex story-telling, space
manipulation, and so forth; they were definitely hypertextual.
