So in order to have an opinion, I have to know all of the politics along with the documents produced. Got it. Thank goodness we didn't know that when we were implementing IPv4 in the mid 80's.

Frankly I had always regretted not going to an IETF meeting at ISI around 88 or so, but given the silliness of IETF politics maybe that was a blessing.
