I was just wondering where the font was stored on your system since it fixed the issue - the rpm I installed threw Tahoma and the other 'Microsoft' fonts in /usr/share/fonts/msttcorefonts/ (I'm running FC4 btw).

Tahoma! that was it, installed it and now my screen fonts are fixed. I'd
suggest mentioning this on your web page since many people may not have it
installed as its not one of the default fonts with X.
