As long as the material was recorded by MythTV. External content on
multiple machines that is played via xine or mplayer will still need
to be on a network share to be visible at the same time from all
frontends.
True, but stuff that wasn't recorded by MythTV isn't handled by a backend, so isn't really relevant to the discussion.
