I used the absolute latest available ivtv drivers, dated 15 Sep., version 0.3.9.  I also needed to find a firmware file to stick in (I think) /lib/modules.  Also, you need to have the cx25840 modules loaded, so if you don't see that, it won't work.

What version of ivtv drivers are you using with the PVR500?  Having
trouble getting my PVR500 to work correctly.
