So why that instead of "the DVR way" which would be recording both, and flipping between the recordings, giving full attention to the one you are watching, but quickly skipping over commercials, breaks in play and boring bits? One of the features on my wish/todo list for Myth is a jump point which means "Go to watching previous thing." Not watching the previous channel in live TV, which is already there and this could do, but to switch instantly from watching one recording and the previous recording you were watching. (Where a live tuner could also be one of those recordings, but it would be paused there.) I do this manually and find it quite handy. You're watching a show with somebody. That somebody needs to do something else for a minute (phone call, bathroom etc.) so you quickly zap to a different show that you are watching and she isn't. As she walks back, you zap again and you're back where you started. Or the sports plan described above.
