If you do end up using a larger case, I'm pretty happy with this: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=370698
It's a Coolermaster 4-in-3 hard drive module. It lets you install 4 hard drives in the space of 3 full-height drive bays, and it has a big 12cm fan on the front, so the fan spins fairly slowly. It fits into a standard ATX case, not just the coolermaster series.
My existing case has a bunch of 3.5" internal drive bays, but only two of them end up in front of the 8cm fans that you can install on the front of the case, so this is a better solution for me, and it makes it easier to route the cables.
