You might find digital cable (which is even more expensive) better because of the ability to get firewire out from the boxes, which is the only way to record HD signals if they are offered (which they need not be but sometimes are.) No satellite company offers firewire out, but there are companies that sell modded boxes which have firewire out. Of course, there is no "capture card" that can recored HD signals from these boxes because there are no consumer HD capture cards on the market. The only HD capture cards cost many thousands of dollars. Your options are a tuner/demod card which works only with over the air broadcasts or QAM on cable, or a box that can output firewire. Or watching HDTV live. But I can't stand to watch TV live. > > Anyone using Voom w/ MythTV? Is Voom any good? You would not be able to record your Voom HD with Myth, unless you can get a modded box that would do firewire out.
