Well, you could code it, and then think up some UI for it, but I suspect most people are going to say the problem is solved a lot better by buying a faster CPU, or a PVR-150 card, which can be had for $85. You would never have an issue if you had such a card, it would also not affect any playback CPU you might need, and buying one seems like a lot less work than coding and doing the UI for this feature.
