In preparation for re-attempting my Myth install this weekend, I wanted to
enable DVD playing on my PC last night (Because I want to use MythDVD as my
primary/only DVD player). It's my understanding that MythDVD is just a
front-end for an underlying player (somewhat) of my choice. I decided to
un-cripple xine so it could play my store-bought DVDs. Three hours later I
still wasn't having much success playing my test CD. So i changed CDs and
*BOOM* it worked. The difference? The first was double-sided, the second
wasn't. Once I got the second to play, I noticed the occasional (once every
10 seconds?) very brief but perceptiple pause (a hiccup, if you will) in the
playback.

Specifically, were MythDVD is concerned *only* and, not intending to start
any type of war, my questions are:

1) Are my assumptions about MythTV using an underlying player correct?
2) If so, which players are options?
3) Of those, which is best based on (in this order) Performance, Stability,
Usability, Capability?
4) Is there a general issue with playing dual-sided DVDs?
