Hello I have been wondering why there is a "scale bitrate based on resolution" checkbox on the configurationscreen for the mpeg4 transcoder, when I have to specify a resolution on the screen just before.
Is it possible to let the transcoder just use the resolution of the recording instead of having to specify a "hardcoded" one? The reason to my question is, that i record movies in "high quality" at full resolution, and series and other things in "low quality" with a (much) lower resolution. There are a lot of recordings that I do not watch right away, but for now, transcoding them to mpeg4 will use just as much space / hour for movies and series, unless I manually change the resolution on the configurationscreen before i start transcoding. I have earlier read an idea about being able to assign different transcodingprofiles to different recordingprofiles, but I think it is quite complex, both to implement and for the user to understand. The "autoresolution" seems much simpler, and the "scale bitrate" thing gives me hope that it might already be there, and I just can not find it. Please let me know if I'm right or wrong :) /henrik
