Yes, I can confirm that. I’m running mythbuntu 14.04 with mythtv v0.27.4-14-gec06dfb. Nvidia 8300 to HDMI and 304 driver.
In 0.27.2 with a ‘fresh’ database the bug was absent, but it re-emerged when I imported a 0.25 database. I now find that the settings in the FE setup > appearance > Theme/Screen settings are crucial. The bug is PRESENT on my setup with settings of Paint =Qt, Menu theme default, GUI width 1920, height 1080, offsets zero, Use GUI for playback YES, hide mouse NO,use window boarder NO, always on top NO, Airplay NO. It is ABSENT if I change GUI width/height both to zero. HTH Thanks for looking at this. I'm running Mythbuntu 12.10. It really seems to be hit or miss. It doesn't seem to matter if it's a reboot or a start from a powered off state. If I close mythfrontend and restart it from the menu the menu bar is hidden like it should be. I'm assuming it's a race condition but I don't really know where to start debugging.
