We really do appreciate you opening this ticket to help improve Mythbuntu, but it needs to be closed for a number of reasons. The biggest one is that upstream has moved on to a new version and believes this to be fixed. Could you please verify if this issue still exists in the latest version?
Please do not let the closing of this ticket dissuade you from opening a new ticket if this (or any other) problem occurs with the newer versions. ** Changed in: mythbuntu Status: Triaged => Expired -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Mythbuntu Bug Team, which is subscribed to Mythbuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1405132 Title: Feature Request: Use files in videos directory to generate thumbnails Status in Mythbuntu, Ubuntu derivative focused upon MythTV: Expired Bug description: A large part of my video collection is home made stuff so it doesn't have cover art, IMDB entries etc. etc. All such videos therefore display in the mythtv video screens with an associated image of a large "?" which I'm sorry to say looks pretty crap. i.e. it definitely *does not* pass the girlfriend test :) I would therefore like to have the facility where I could put an image file in the same directory as the video file, named exactly as the video file but with an image extension (".jpg" or ".png" etc.) and have myth pick up this image. e.g. If the video is called "Home Made Video 01.mpg" then if I also place a file called ""Home Made Video 01.png" in the same directory the front end will pick up this image and use it as a thumbnail (overriding any image set in the database) Maybe this could be combined with a script, which could be run periodically or incorporated into the "scan for changes" menu item, which will scan the video directories for such files and update the database ? This simply feature would massively improve mythtv for me as although I have investigated various scripts to update the database etc. it would be much simpler, easier and user friendly to be able to simply place appropriately named files. As an extension to this idea maybe the video summary could also be palced in a ".txt" or ".info" file ? e.g. from my example above "Home Made Video 01.info" could be used to place a short text summary ?
