This has got to be a common question, but I'd really appreciate a little help.
I recently reinstalled my Linux (SuSE 8.2). I *KNOW* I don't have a cron run that deletes this.
When I try to start mysql, I get the message
"Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)"
Using locate, I see that, indeed, it is not there. I'm using MySQL 4.1.0
I've tried running mysqld_safe. It tries to start the mysqld, then I immediately get the message that mysqld ended. It doesn't start.
How do I get it going again?
