Ok, I've added to my PATH
/usr/local/MySQL/mysql-3.23.-52-pc-linux-gnu-i686/bin
and at least I'm getting this now
$ mysql
Error 2002: Can't connect to local MySQL server
through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (111)
Sounds like the server isn't running.
I'm not sure what it is trying to tell me, btw, I'm
running MySQL on the same machine that I'm trying to
log into, so I don't know if this makes a difference
or not.
