How about the MySQL reference manual??? Honestly, the variety of complex statements makes it near impossible to have a "how-to" book in the subject. My approach is two-fold; 1. Understand the reference manual of how the SQL statements can build up. 2. Look at real code, either handcoded, or better yet, query building tools.
