A lot of the RPM's for 4.1.12 seems to have been removed from the
download page so I presume there's a known problem:

http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/4.1.html

The binary download works fine. Encouraged me to try out the Intel
Compiler builds anyway :-)
