An ENUM can have only one value e.g TRUE or FALSE. A SET is a group of possible values e.g. IN_STOCK, ON_ORDER, SHORTAGE, OBSOLETE. A in the first case the thing must be either TRUE or FALSE, but there are sizteen posssible combinations such as IN_STOCK/OBSOLETE, ON_ORDER/SHORTAGE and so on..
