Hi Folks,
Has anyone figured out a method to quickly and preferably
using shortcut keys to turn Outlook desktop emails into MLO
tasks using primarily keyboard just as you would normally drag
and drop emails into MLO using mouse?
I realize MLO offers:
1. Ability to forward email to MLO cloud email account. This
is a bit of an issue as some companies have data security
compliance related policies which make this difficult. In
addition there chance of failure if email doesn't arrive and/or
forcing to remove any possible attachments prior to email going
out.
2. Ability to create outlook tasks which sync to MLO, but
that seems concerning as it creates a bit of disorganization.
Trying to avoid using outlook as a task manager and instead have
all tasks solely in MLO.
3. Manually creating task in MLO using CTRL+Shift+M but this
method is not ideal as subject / body of email not copied as
well as link to open email from within MLO.
4. Using mouse to drag email into MLO; works great. Copies
email subject, body and outlook link to MLO exactly as I would
want and currently what I am doing. Unfortunately this method is
a bit slow for someone that is trying to process emails very
rapidly in Outlook based on Tiago Forte Inbox Zero method. He
suggest using keyboard shortcuts for very rapid processing of
emails. Any emails requiring any action / follow up to go into
task manager. In addition I have noticed if you are in "Views"
section of MLO Inbox and don't have any other tasks in the inbox
than drag and drop doesn't work. You either need to create at
least one task manually in the inbox or need to go to active
actions list and than can drag and drop into inbox. Essentially
slows things down a bit.
Ideally it would be nice to see much closer integration
between MLO and Outlook desktop (considering this is one of the
most used email clients), perhaps through a Outlook DLL COM
Add-in that would enable to use keyboard shortcuts within
Outlook to quickly turn emails (with subject & body text
just like using mouse in method#3) into tasks and perhaps have
the DLL COM addon offer additional options to have certain tasks
with additional MLO commonly used features like flags and/or
other options that are specific to MLO.
Has anyone ever wanted this capability and/or found solutions
to solve this? Has the MLO team ever considered further more
advanced integrations between MLO and Outlook and/or given us
some means to integrate ourselves. I would certainly pay for an
upgrade to get this capability.
Here is the link to Tiago Forte Inbox Zero method for anyone
interested in reviewing his suggestions for quickly processing
emails.
Other than that MLO has been a delight to use and I am glad I
have come across this wonderful application.
