Mhhh I use aspell but I see no colours. Relevant ~/.muttrc lines
set my_it_ispell="aspell -e -d it -c"
macro compose ii '<enter-command>set ispell=$my_it_ispell<enter><ispell>'
How do you invoke it? Maybe you are using it /inside/ your editor of
choice?
