I don't use Yahoo Mail, but I use Mutt against Gmail. In the old days it worked with a passphrase, but three years ago I had to install an "app password". I created this password from my Google Account page and Mutt uses this password to access Gmail. In my `.muttrc` I have this line: set imap_pass=`cat ~/.mutt-gmail` Maybe Yahoo has a similar system you can use.
