I've had this in .muttrc for a while (along with other bindings starting with \ca):
macro index, pager \cac "<tag-pattern>~N<Enter><tag-prefix><toggle-new>" "catch up" Until now I always did it from the index, and it works flawlessly. Today I tried it in the pager for the first time, and of course something exciting and unexpected happens :-) Mutt says: Warning: This alias name may not work. Fix it? ([yes]/no): When I hit n (which looked safest), it says: Address: sender@sender.domain (where the real address reflects the sender of the message I'm paging through). What is going on? When I hit the help key in pager mode the macro shows up as it should and I see no other binding for this key sequence anywhere. -- Please *no* private copies of mailing list or newsgroup messages.
