The reason why I went back to 1.4 was a strange behaviour of 1.5.21

mutt -f mbox tried to read all messages in mbox and called firefox for each
html-containing message,
due to
  auto_view text/html
  and a corresponding .mailcap entry

I found now out that this behviour is triggered by my

color index black red "~b text/calendar"

line in my .muttrc.

This was NOT the case with mutt-1.4.2.3

Removing the color index line stops the strange behavior, but now there is
(of course) no highlighting of messages containing text/calendar any more.

So how can I have it all:

  - correct encoding of pdf-files (was o.k. in mutt-1.4.2 under an older
ubunto, but strangly not
      with mutt-1.4.2 under ubunto 12.04)
  - highlighting of messages containing text/calendar
  - no attempts to display all html-messages when scanning for text/calendar

?

Thanks for any hints.
