I thought of that, and indeed even wrote a test macro that works for
messages that have one attachment only:

macro pager \Cf1 "<view-attachments><collapse-parts>t2<enter>t;f"

This works well, even if the message has a multipart body (e.g.
plaintext and html). The problem is I do not know how to tag all the
attachments after collapse, in a macro (or indeed at the attachment
listing menu), without having to do it one by one. Further, in the
macro above, if I write the commands to tag a message, then jump to
the next, and tag it, and do this, say, 3 times, if the message only
has one attachment (besides the body), than that will be tagged, then
untagged. So the only solution would be custom commands, one for each
particular number of attachments, which is really cumbersome. This is
what led me to inquire on the status of such a feature as described in
my previous email.
