If you weren't receiving messages from the comp.lang.c mailing list before adding the commands then nothing at all will be changed. You still need to go off to a web site somewhere and subscribe to the list (or send special E-Mail messages to the list server).

However if you haven't subscribed to the list(s) with your gmail address you're not going to see any list E-Mails.
