could i ask, when you say that you change mailboxes and mutt should cycle
through the mailboxes that have new mail what do you mean exactly? the
mailboxes command provides a temporary message at the bottom when viewing the
index and pager when new mail has arrived in the mailboxes listed with the
command and also when you press '.' when viewing the index and pager. you can
also press 'y' which will list all those mailboxes you listed with the
mailboxes command. is this the behaviour you're having trouble with
specifically?
