I think I see what you mean now. If I make my terminal very wide, the text is still wrapped at 72 chars. Looking at the code, I do see it hardcoded. There seems to be an error with the handling of the $wrap variable. It looks like if you add 'set wrap=-1' as a temporary workaround (at least with Mutt 1.5.21).
