I used to have the same opinion before I had a mailer that made it so easy. With mutt I do occasionally edit messages: - to use a message in my inbox as a primitive to-do list, or for notes, or to hold a list of URLs that I want to remember to view at some later time. - to remove uneeded attachments when archiving a discussion thread. For example a co-worker produces some software my own project depends on, and has lately been mailing me prerelease versions for testing. I want to keep the discussion itself, but I don't need all of the attachments since most of them have been superceded by later versions. -Dave Dodge
