I'm now running with this:

* ^from:.*<http://phr...@nospam.invalid>

Seems to work. (I know that can be written as a single clause instead of
nested; the above is a syntactic thing for my mail rule processor.)
Cheers,
I haven't looked into this further as yet.. got sidetracked checking out
handling mailing lists with google mail .. aaargh.. and seamonkey-mail
ibid. T-Bird.. a bit better.
Further feeds my love for mutt.
I tried to send test emails with such malformed "From:" headers to
myself to try and figure out what others are seeing in different
contexts such as the above-mentioned, and guess what.. I never managed
to get one broken email such as his to make it to my various test
accounts..
This troll must be some kind of damaged genius and must be on to
something. :-)
So I've left it alone for now, hoping he will post again..!
What I find extremely objectionable is that non-content to hide his
return address so nobody can get a'hold of him if he causes others
grief, he does it in such a way as to advertise the userid of the poster
he is replying to on the list for the world to spam .. IOW - F*ck ya
Jack, I'm alright..
I'll just killfile him when I get a chance (good opportunity to brush up
my procmailrc skills a bit) - won't bother rewriting his From: stuff..
not worth the trouble.
But I'm still unsure how I will get even as I must.. bomb him if I find
his email address somewhere..? report him to the list masters and get
him banned for life..? expose him to the list..?
:-)
Ah.. I'll probably just forget about him.. life's too short.
Phew..!! I managed to get through this message, w/o mutt or vim.. only
took me twice the time and effort.. just hope my T-Bird-whatever
settings won't cause this rant to materialize as a ten megabyte html
thing with very long lines - in your and other folks' Inbox-es.
Gen-Paul.
