Patrick, writecolumn doesn't seem to appear in mutt-devel (1.5.18) either. There is "wrap", which is the substitute for the deprecated "wrapmargin". I put "set wrapmargin = -5" in my mutt-stable (1.4.2.3), but see no difference.
