You're quite welcome!

For what it's worth, I've used systems where I had a full-email login 
and didn't need to escape things. I did it like this (I prefer using 
imap_pass rather than encoding it in the URI):

     imaps://[EMAIL PROTECTED]@imap.example.com/

... and it worked perfectly. :)
