I use Maildir with IMAP, and I see *no* new mail notifications on the folders at all. When I open the mailbox (maildir), yes - the index or pager shows new messages. But using the "c" command to switch folders only ever shows the name of the folder, and not a new mail notification symbol. You're saying that you do see a new mail indicator on Maildir (i.e., IMAP) folders?
